Function of hearing in brainstem is to localize information – “where is the sound” In the temporal lobe – distinguish temporal Do not understand what determines processing in higher order. Broca’s and Wernicke’s areas Primary auditory cortex – medial side of temporal lobe – inside of the temporal lobe. Wernicke’s area – associated with the parietal lobe – comprehension area. Broca’s – generating speech. Broca’s – can’t find the words. Can answer in writing to questions. Hasn’t lost vocabulary – but lost connection between speech contral areas and the thought train. Only on the left side, inequity in the hemispheres. Comprehends speech. Frontal lobe. Wernicke’s – Can come up with the words. Does not comprehend his own words. Left parietal loss was very absolute. Hearing is fine, parsing the hearing is not. Where do you live? Replicates loss was very absolute....
