Unformatted text preview: China has set a great example for other nations by adding iodine to their salt in 1994, which has greatly improved their past problems with goiter disease. However, China is still facing diseases such as rickets due to vitamin D deficiency and anemia due to Iron and Folate deficiency. Folate deficiency is a major concern, contributing to China having the highest rate of neural tube defects in the world.
