Foaming Flask WARNING : The liberation of oxygen and energy in the decomposition can have dangerous side- effects. Spilling high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide on a flammable substance can cause an immediate fire, which is further fueled by the oxygen released by the decomposing hydrogen peroxide. SAFETY NOTE : This lab makes use of a strong chemical that can become dangerous when misused. Be sure to read all the directions carefully BEFORE proceeding and to follow all directions carefully while conducting the experiment. DO NOT expose your skin to the harsh chemical at the bottom of the flask at the end of the reaction. Wear an apron, gloves and safety glasses (or goggles) when washing out the flask. The chemical can be safely washed down the sink with lots of water. Introduction This lab is about the chemical reaction of hydrogen peroxide. I hope to learn about the chemical reaction and decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. My hypothesis for this lab is that the hydrogen peroxide will decompose into water and oxygen gas and create visible foam in the process. Materials 250 mL glass flask, funnel, 50 mL Hydroxide peroxide, graduated cylinder, yeast, liquid dishwashing soap, and blue food coloring. Methods Kitchen at approximately 74° 3/4/2016 Procedure: 1. Measured 50 mL of room temperature hydrogen peroxide and put it into a flask. Added two drops of blue food coloring. I put the flask in the middle of the sink.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
