Discussion Part One Deciding what advance nurse practitioner (ANP) is reliant on what the future ANP wants to achieve in their career. The advanced nurse practitioner role is a unique dual role in traditional medical practice and nursing (Hurlock-Chorostecki, Forchuk, Orchard, Soeren, & Reeves, 2014). The four roles of the ANP include Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. In this week’s post I will be evaluating each of the four ANP roles and their individual scopes of practice. Certified nurse practitioner (CNP) deliver primary and acute care in clinics, schools, hospitals, and other settings. These providers perform care and diagnostic tests. There healthcare performing physical examinations, treating common acute illnesses and injuries, immunizations, and managing chronic health problems. CNPs are likely to practice with a general or specific population (Cahill & Hysong, 2012).
