2. The first three readings in this section all discuss leaders and regimes that blur the conceptual boundaries of authoritarianism in certain ways. The fourth reading discusses a straightforwardly and fully authoritarian regime. What accounts for the difference? What do these different authoritarian regimes tell us about the concept of authoritarianism more generally? The difference between the first three sections and the fourth one is that the fourth section covers a bigger dictatorial regime than the first three sections. The authoritarian regime in North Korea is more strict than the other countries from the other sections. The concept of authoritarianism can be different and it doesn’t have to be the same across every country that has an authoritarian regime.
