To deal with this issue, the service industry often uses part-time employees who are paid an hourly wage and are scheduled to work shifts. Inconsistency in services refers to the fact that: there is no regulation of service industries in terms of basic standards of quality. the quality of service provided by a firm is often inconsistent with its image. the performance of one employee may vary from that of another employee. the services cannot be stored for long periods of time for use at a later date. Developing, pricing, promoting, and delivering services is challenging because the quality of a service is dependent on the people who provide it and it can therefore vary in consistency. Quality
