Team #2: Designalicious An aggie does not lie, cheat, or steal or tolerate those who do The Impact of The Singularity on Biomedical Technology The world we live in today can be categorized as a time of exponentially increasing technological development. This means that we won’t experience 100 years of progress in the 21 st century, but closer to 20,000 years of progress! However, technological development is more than just bigger and better gadgets. The term “singularity” refers to the technological creation of smarter-than-human intelligence. Even today, the human race is consumed with interconnected technological systems and the normality of it all has become so readily accepted that life without the technology we rely on today would seem unfathomable. It is theorized that the rate of technological development has become so exponentially fast that the rate of evolutionary development is at least seven million times faster than the speed of thought in biological systems (humans). As time progresses, technology and biology are fusing together and becoming more and more interconnected. This inevitable accelerating change will obviously affect every human being and change many job fields and domains, or possibly cause them to disappear altogether. This is a phenomena that we all must prepare for and accept. The possibilities are endless and will be occupanied by limitless opportunity and productivity in the years to come, but as the need for certain employees and workers become replaced by more intelligent devices, we must be able to readily adapt to these changes.
