Certifications and Continuing EducationThis paper is based on my professional role which is Occupational Therapy Assistant. This material will identify a professional organization that would provide professional development opportunities for the role selected, the professional development and other opportunities the professional organization would provide to me as a member, the importance of being a member in a professional organization, and the link to this organization. Occupational Therapy Assistant Occupational Therapy Assistant is a prestigious profession in the health care industry which is geared towards helping patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for activities of daily living (BLS, 2017). Occupational Therapy Assistants or COTA (certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) provide therapy to patients across the lifespan and work under the supervision of Occupational Therapists. Occupational Therapy Assistants work with children with disabilities in schools and social situations, recovery from injuries to regain skills, helping older adults with physical and cognitive therapy. The therapists are required to be certified and licensed in the State to be qualified to practice. Continuing education is a part of the career whichneeds to be adhered to continue working.
