onrisas by: Pat Mora In the short poem “Sonrisas,” Mora writes about the differences between the white people and what makes them smile compared to the Mexican Americans who are in a different room. It is kind of sad because she says how the white are always dressed nice and in my opinion she made it kind of sound like they were always to serious and never really happy, which she contrasted to the Mexican Americans who are always laughing which you could see in their dark eyes. Finding a Wife by: Gary Soto In this short story by Gary Soto, he talks about how it is easy to find a wife, and what is most importantly is that it be someone who lives next door to you that you fall in love with if you see them everyday doing their daily chores. He also talks about money in this story, which I find very interesting, because in this story the boy is the poor one and the girl seems to be somewhat wealthy.
