Primary aim provides motivation and purpose. “what do you want to be, do, have?”
Creating a result, reflect n vision, describe vision, expand/clarify vision. Find your
deepest desires. “what would it bring you” leads you to the same primary goals,
sometimes too deeply hidden.
A competency is an enduring workplace related trait characteristic that will not become
obsolete over time.
A behavioral example is a story about your past that indicates your future, say which
competencies you have.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage ourselves and our emotions effectively.
Need self awareness and self management. They are more responsible, assertive, popular,
more considerate, harmonious, etc.
Don’t criticize former worker.
Not throw away any opportunity to present yourself in a good light.
10. 4 factors
competence- resumes, dress, appearance.
Integrity: real credentials, accomplishments, eye contact
Likeability- optimistic, doesn’t downgrade, good listener
Dynamism- enthusiasm, energy, not artificial

12. Be a team player, encourage others, volunteer, stay out of political camps, have integrity,
work collaboratively, think like a manager, let your boss know your career goals, do what
needs doing, find a mentor, project a can-do approach, be positive, do things to help-be
seen, undertake less popular assignments, let boss know if there is bad news, know
what’s expected, ask for authority, compete against yourself, accept criticism, learn from
setbacks, acknowledge other’s help, learn to get what you want, make yourself a leading
Retain membership in professional organizations, reading books and articles in
area, attend conferences/seminars, expand network of business associates.
