The Eagle 2 SPEECH OVERVIEW AUDIENCE: 18-19 year old Comm. 103 Students TOPIC: Eagles historical value PURPOSE: To analyze the significance eagles have had on world history THESIS / CENTRAL IDEA: To inform my audience of the Eagle as a significant figure on our society today, just as it has been for hundreds of years. I. Introduction A. ATTENTION-GETTER: Look at any piece of currency in your wallet, some logos of big business, or even back thousands of years in history. B. REASON TO LISTEN: The symbol you might seem to notice the most is the eagle, an icon of power and great strength. Throughout civilized history, great kingdoms took the eagle as their crests, as it was the king of all winged animals. Our own nation took it as our national emblem in 1782, making appearances on currency, federal buildings, military property, etc. C. SPEAKER CREDIBILITY: Reading three books and several websites on the topic, I feel competent in reviewing the amazing history regarding the eagle. D. THESIS: To inform my audience of the Eagle as a significant figure on our global community today, just as it has been for hundreds of years.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
