Happiness and luck “Happiness” root is Middle English “hap” meaning ‘chance’ or ‘fortune’ [happenstance, haphazard, hapless, perhaps] French “bonhuer” Old French “huer” –‘fortune’ or ‘luck’ Italian, Portuguese, Spanish – Felicita’, felicidade, felicidad :: Latin felix – luck or fate.
