Siming Zhu (sz86) TA: Naresh Kumar Physics 203 Extra Credit: Starry Night Part A: 1) Date and time that Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn be visible from Ithaca, NY. According to my results from the Stellarium program, the date and time the following planets will be visible from Ithaca NY are: Venus: will appear for a very brief period on April 28, 2008 as it rises right before the sun at approximately 6:00 AM. Mars: will appear on April 27, 2008. Mars can be seen right after sunset at approximately 9:00PM, and will fall below the horizon at around 1:20 AM. Jupiter: will appear on April 27, 2008 as well. The first visible appearance of Jupiter in Ithaca occurs as the planet rises above the eastern horizon at around 1:40 AM; and will remain visible until the time of sunrise, which is around 6:00 AM. Saturn: will be visible from Ithaca, NY on April 27, 2008. The first visible appearance of Saturn occurs immediately after sunset at approximately 9:00PM; and will fall out of view when the planet falls below the western horizon at around 3:20AM. 2) Location of Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn relative to the sun Venus : conjunction to the sun. Venus always stays very close to the sun. Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn : these three planets are all in opposition to the sun, as they are clearly visible only at night. The orbiting of these planets around the sun sometimes makes the planets appear as though they are positioned behind the earth relative to the position of the sun.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
