Bandura Scientists are focusing on aggression in the forms of human contact They have moved on from examining the definition of aggression to finding its source Why do people engage in acts of aggression? Most widely accepted notion is that aggression is learned Bandura is considered to be one of the founders of “social learning theory” He believed behavior could be learned through observation and imitation Theoretical Propositions Children would be tested to see how closely they imitated adults in aggressive and non- aggressive situations Bandura made four predictions: children would imitate the aggression of the adults they observed; children would be less aggressive when imitating non-aggressive adults; C Children would imitate models of the same sex more than models of the opposite sex; boys will show more aggression than girls do Method Used children from the Stamford University Nursing School program
