The light microscope can resolve details 0.2 μ m apart (pages 579-583; figures 9-2 to 9-6) - parts of a light microscope - path of light in a light microscope - the wave nature of light – when two waves are in phase, the amplitude of the resultant wave is larger and the brightness is increased; when two waves are out of phase, they cancel each other and the brightness of the resultant wave is decreased - magnification versus resolution - resolving power 2.
