Calculate the Design day cooling loads due to heat gains from the Wall, Roof, Window and Occupants as
described in the problems given below.
8-28: Compute the cooling load for the south wall of a building at 36 deg N latitude in July. The solar
time is 4:00pm. The wall is brick veneer and frame with an overall heat-transfer coefficient of 0.08
-F). The inside design temperature is 75 F and the outside temperature is 101 F. The
daily range of temperature is 22 deg F. The wall is 8*16 ft with a 4*5 ft window. (Do not make a
calculation for the window.)
8-33: A roof-ceiling combination has a metal deck with 2 in. of heavy concrete and 3 in. of rigid
insulation on top. The outside layer is typical built-up membrane and stone, whereas the ceiling is
acoustical tile below a ceiling air space. The building is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
