Conclusion When examining the data in figure 1, it is clear that the broad bean (Vicia faba), onion (Allium cepa ), and whitefish ( Coregonus clupeaformis ) spend similar amounts of time in each stage of the cell cycle. Cells in all three of the studied organisms spend most of their time in interphase, followed by prophase, and thirdly, almost equal times metaphase, anaphase and telophase. This is to be expected because interphase is the phase in which all the preparatory work for cell division is done, (such as DNA replication, synthesis of DNA associated proteins
