Lisa Mei 1 Kines 077 Sec. 2 Body Scan Body scan is a very good way to learn more about one’s body. Through meditation, slower breathing and all the postures we do in the practices of yoga, students can relate more to the inner self that we often ignore in the busy ways of life. On January 22 nd 2008, I learned more about my body than I had in the past 19 years of my life. As we progress on the path to adulthood, I realized that people rarely have time for themselves anymore, let alone notice the signs that our bodies give out as “warning signals.” I closed my eyes and waited for a journey that I was about to take in appreciation of my body. Putting all my concentration on the toes of my feet, I was suddenly aware of what wonderful “things” toes are. Without toes, we would not be able to grab ground and maintain balance. As that thought popped up in my head, my toes began to curl under me, grabbing the rough yet cushioned carpet floor. The weight on the balls of my feet and heels shifted from left to
