Questions Part 1: Identify each unknown from Part One of the lab and briefly explain why you identified each unknown as you did. I identified Unknown 1 as Sodium and Unknown 2 as Potassium. To figure out the Unknowns, I looked at the colors of the elements I did know. I knew that Potassium was blue and Sodium was yellow, so I identified the two unknowns as those elements. Part 2: Describe the line spectrum of the star. Give the color and wavelength value of the five brightest lines in the spectrum. The line spectrum of the star had lines of different colors and widths. Some lines were very thin, while others were very thick. The colors of the five brightest lines in the spectrum were dark purple, dark blue, teal, yellow/green, and dark red. The wavelength value of dark purple was 415nm, dark blue was 435nm, teal was 500nm, yellow/green was 550nm, and dark red was 705nm.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
