Why do corporations rule in a democracy? Main elements of his argument: the power elite influences US policy in 3 ways: the candidate selection process, special interest groups, and the policy making process. Upper class forms the corporate community and has an impact on everything. o Because of the overwhelming uncertainty that corporations perceive with regard to government decision making, they will attempt to diminish this uncertainty as much as possible. They will do this by trying to place people they can trust, people of their own kind, in government positions. o In addition, corporations can reduce their uncertainty about government, by hiring former government officials and that will also help them to reduce that uncertainty, which will help them to predict and interpret government policies as
