There is no claim of merit of an Arab over a non-Arab, or of a white over a black person, pr of a male over a female. Only god-fearing people merit a preference wit God” women are included in his vision of equality within the faith. This passage was in one of his surahs. In one of his last sermons before he dies he appeals strongly for tribal harmony. “let all past grievances be put aside.” He also appeals for harmony between men and women. He says to the men “you have rights over your rights, and they have rights over you.” c. Major right for women introduced by Muhammad i. Only the bride has the right to negotiate the contract for her own contract. Not her father, not her brothers. This is a leap from any practices that were around during this time. Bride money goes to the bride herself, not to the family. (?) because the money represents the love of the man for the women. ii.
