Cooc  1 Andy Cooc Sociology 301 June 14, 2008 Path of Least Resistance Digesting the Truth “More than 850 million people go hungry each day, equivalent to the combine populations of North America, Japan, and Europe. Hunger kills more than 5 million children each year- about one child every five seconds,” according to researches (Understanding). Too many people are affected by poverty and by hunger. Poverty is mostly concentrated in developing countries. Luckily we live in the United States, a post-industrialized nation. But that does not mean the United States does not have poverty. There are at least 37 million Americans living in poverty in the year 2004 and the United States shows a tremendous economic variation among the rich and the poor (Understanding). So before you dispose of your left over food, think of how many starving people in the world the food can benefit. An average person eats three meals a day. However, I can barely finish two meals a day. Maybe, my appetite is not as great as other. Yet, I still try to consume all of my food even if my
