1. It was viewed that when God made heaven and earth, it was implied that both the body and the soul were good and that God would not create something that was harmful or evil. Jesus was seen as the perfect image of body, mind and soul. During the middle ages, this concept became confusing, splitting Christianity into Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestant religions. Christians, who were the minority, believed that God was everywhere and is in our bodies. So, since he was in us, the body was good. Roman Catholics viewed the body as vile and corrupt and beyond redemption. Biblical concepts of the body, soul, and flesh describe man as a whole being, as opposed to having dualistic existence. Still today, not all scholars are in agreement at this point. One perspective of the body, thought by Frank Bottomley, thought that human beings are bodily images of the perfect God and the body as part of our existence is good. Another perspective of the body was by the merging of the Eastern Orthodox religion and Greek philosophy. It was viewed, with the exception of ritual dancing and manual labor, that the body
