Genesis 1 & 2 The old Earth View- God took more then 6 days to create the Earth. The Young Earth View- Earth is around 6000 years old and God created it in six days and took a break on the seventh. According to Walton, “The seven days are not given as the period of time over which the material cosmos came into existence, but the period of time devoted to the inauguration of the functions of the cosmic temple” The Beginning God created the Heavens and Earth, Earth was formless, empty and dark. Genesis 1.2 The first day God created light and darkness which we now call our day and night The Second day God created the Sky, He wanted create a barrier from water and water. The Third day God created land with vegetation, and sea. The fourth day He created the moon, sun and stars to govern the day and the night. The fifth day God created all living creatures for air, land and sea. The sixth day God created man in his own image. The seventh day God rested, and made it holy. Adam & Eve Chapter 2 focuses on the creation of man in more detail When God created land and vegetation, there was no rain. The vegetation was watered by mist from the ground but there was no man to maintain it. God created man from the dust on the ground. According to the bible God breathed “The Breath of life” in to him so he became “ a living being”. In the east part of Eden, God created the garden of Eden which held the tree of life, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and watered by four rivers. Man was placed in this garden to look over it. He was told that he could eat from every tree from the garden expect the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God decided that man should not be alone so he created a companion. God took a rib from Adam and created woman. Interpretation of the Origin of the Universe Evolution Age of Earth Can be reconciled with the message of the Bible? Evolution Evolution is the basic principle of continuing our world development. The scientific measures date the world to billions of years old, while the version from the bible has a completely different timeline. Organism's were the beginning of how all living creatures were created. Its basically survival of the fittest, then they reproduced which is turn created more of the superior organisms. Age of Earth The age of the earth and universe is a major dispute between the Scientists and the bible followers. The bible give information in regards to the timeline of the creation of the universe. From the historical records the entire universe was created roughly 6000 years ago. Can it reconciled with the message of the Bible? In my opinion, No. Based on scientific evidence the earth was created billions of years ago. I understand why some people believe based on the bible that the earth was created 6000 years ago but for me if there is proof stating something different how can you still believe something that there is proof stating something completely different? Personal Belief I understand that everyone believes in something and sometimes its okay to believe in something whether or not you have proof. For me the Age of the earth and evolution should be determined more scientific especially since we seem to have more proof that the world is a lot older then the bible tells it. Its hard for me to believe in God when I have seen so many different things happen that make me feel like if there was a god why would he allow for that to happen? Worldview I believe that the origin of the universe is way more difficult to understand then the way the bible portrays it. The bible explains in it in a way that the so called 7 days was enough to create everything I believe the earth was created way before the 6000 years that more Christians believe. There is proof that creatures lived longer then 6000 years ago. I feel like I’m leaning towards believing in the Big Bang. To me it is more believable that the universe and world started out from a ball of matter that has been growing and expanding for the last 13 billion years. View of God The idea of God is comforting to many people. While I do not dismiss the idea of God, I struggle with understanding that one person can create everything and wield all the power. How can someone who is supposed to love and care for all creatures in the world when all the different bad things happen. Humanity Humanity is one of those things you have to use evolution to help explain it. Evolution started with organisms which evolved into creatures which then evolves into humans. If you believe in the Big Bang then you believe that we are share some similarities. If you believe in God then you believe that he creature humanity how he wanted it to be. I am honestly torn between the two, I question how one person could have the power to create everything on his own and I struggle with knowing all of the facts to prove the Big Bang. Responsibility to care for the earth Because all different creatures live on earth we all have our own responsibilities on how to care for the Earth. Humans have the most responsibility because we used up most of the resources that the Earth provides to us. Animals have their circle of life which help them and the Earth by means of replenishing the grounds so that vegetation can grow which then the animals eat. If we want to continue to have quality of life for all creatures we have to treat the environment with more care, for example for recycling, making sure tree and plants continue to grow, less air pollution etc. References Ross, H.
