The protagonist is Patrick Lancaster, an aspiring writer with a decision to make. What is the protagonist’s chief desire? The protagonist, Patrick Lancaster, has a chief desire of getting his girlfriend, Ember Madison, back. What is the protagonist willing to do or to sacrifice to get his chief desire? The protagonist is willing to give up the opportunity of a lifetime that he has as a writer. Does the protagonist’s get his chief desire at the end of the story? Yes, the protagonist does get his chief desire at the end of the story. I know because I wrote it that way. What is the inciting incident that sets the protagonist on his journey? The inciting incident that sets the protagonist on his journey is the dream he has that takes him to a flashback of the big fight.
