Ryan Waters Journalism 115 Media Fast A media fast is when one is denied the luxury of any type of mass media for a given period of time. This may sound simple, but be assured that it is not. How many times do you casually turn on the TV or pick up a book without even realizing it? Mass media plays a very important role in our lives, and it takes an effort to resist it. Media shapes our views and opinions, even thought we might not think this to be the case. In the 20 th century, the world as a whole needs the media. A simple task such as going 5 hours without mass media should be a breeze. So ingrained is mass media into our lives, that for many this task may be impossible.
