Chapter Questions Chapter 15 1.) The leader I chose is our Regional Services director at work Melissa Hurley. Melissa manages over 10 people of different positions and pay rates. Melissa listens to employee’s requests for assistance and always responds to their needs and answers their questions and assists them with what they need to accomplish tasks. To acknowledge the employees contributions the following day, Melissa will show her praise at our monthly staff meetings and praises their efforts and show appreciation for the extra efforts. When an employee is doing an exceptional job she sends requests out to reward the employee through raises and well employees are at their wage cap she will send out gift certificates to show her appreciation. Outside of being charismatic, Melissa also uses her formal authority to stand firm with policy and procedures. She doesn’t excuse any associate for willing violating policies and makes sure that everyone is treated fairly and equally. However, she has been known to provide exception for employees who experienced policy violations that were unavoidable. For instance, employees that were late due to being stuck at a train crossing would be overlooked if the employee wasn’t frequently late. Also when employees are sick or become sick at work she allows them to home. Melissa has been working with the
