The Banality of Evil Her most controversial book Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil (unwillingness to think) His job was to orchestrate the system in charge of killing the Jews. What might this tell you? After being caught and arrested, Eichmann’s legal plea to the accusations was that he “did” do something wrongs, but it was not the murder he was accused of doing. Hannah’s report argues the he didn’t regret what he did or wish he could change it. Eichmann’s response at the trail was one in which he tried to be logical and rational. Eichmann’s “ version of Kant for the household use by the little man” was that you must obey the letter of the law and you must act as though you agree with it. In other words, he tries to use the famous philosophy of Kant to say that no one pinks or chooses orders. We must obey the law (government) no matter that the circumstances. Even if you disagree you must act as though you agree. That is the only rationally justified course of
