Histoplasmosis is a disease caused by the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum. Histoplasmosis is caused by bird and bat feces. The disease itself takes harborage in the soil and is contracted when inhalation of airborne fungus takes place. Most people who inhale these spores do not get sick, or are able to recover without any type of intervention or medication. However, individuals with a compromised immune system such as; HIV or anyone receiving chemotherapeutics, can develop severe disease or sickness which will then spread to the lungs and other various organs causing pretty severe damage in some cases. This fungus when at room temperature takes on a vegetative state but, at body temperature it appears in the form of yeast.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
