Passing judgment, we are all guilty of it, at one point or another we put others in categories and assume to know the whole story even when we have only seen just a couple seconds of someone’s day. As horrible as it is we can’t help it. Even if we do not say it out loud we may think it based on our own beliefs. ”Wow, you would think she would order a salad instead of a double cheeseburger look at her.” “She’s waiting an extra 3 minutes for the elevator when she could just take the stairs, it’s not like she doesn’t need the exercise.” But do those two instances mean that the individual is lazy? Or does it mean that maybe she was just caught on a long day and she just couldn’t handle the stairs or that she has done well on her diet all week and wanted to treat herself? Now with most stereotypes there are a few people that do fit the bill, since well, that is how stereotypes start unfortunately. I personally work with someone who is severely overweight
