040133-1 International Financial Management I Summer Semester 2017 GENERAL INFORMATION Lecturer: Natalia Ivanova E-mail: [email protected] Office Hours: By Appointments Office 6.328 Course Objective This course is divided in two main parts: The first part aims to introduce the students to the institutional environment of the Foreign Exchange Markets and currency forwards and options contracts. This part will further discuss the Exchange rates determination and balance of payment accountiung. The second part will concentrate on the management of financial exposure and swap contacts. It is highly recommendable to attend both parts, and the attendance to the first part is a pre-requisite for the second part. Topics This is a tentative schedule given according to topics and corresponding textbooks’ chapters. I will determine the pace of class based on the overall student feedback and participation. Introduction o Introduction to international finance o Globalization: some stylized facts and historical perspective.
