2 Apple is a company that designs, manufactures, and markets mobile communication and media devices, personal computers, and portable digital music players, as well as sells a variety of software and services (Glenn). Apple has become a company that is not only well-known but is also well-liked due to the high-quality products and services they provide. This paper will address a few different things. The first one is discussing two segments of the general environment what would rank highest in their influence on Apple as well as how they affect them. Secondly it will discuss two out of the five forces of completion that are most significant to Apple and how well they addressed them in the recent past, as well as discuss what the company might do to improve its ability to address them in the near future. Third one would be assessing the external threats affecting Apple as well as the opportunities available to them and how they should deal with both the greatest threat and opportunity. The fourth one is the corporation’s greatest strengths and weaknesses and discuss the best strategy or tactic that Apple should use to take advantage of the strengths and fix the weaknesses, as well as discuss Apple’s resources, capabilities, and core competencies. Lastly the paper will also Analyze Apple’s value chain to determine where they can create value using the resources, capabilities, and core competencies. Choose two segments of the general environment that would rank highest in their influence on Apple. Asses how these segments affect Apple and the industry in which it operates. The two segments of the general environment that I feel rank the highest in their influence on Apple would have to be the political/legal segment as well as the global segment. The political/legal segment in our textbook is the arena in which organizations and interest groups compete for attention, resources, and voice in overseeing the body of laws and regulations

3 guiding interactions among nations as well as between firms and various local governmental agencies (Hitt). A way to say what this segment deals with simply is laws and legal issues that they may face. Examples of what the political/legal segment covers in terms of things like laws and regulations would be Anti-trust laws, taxation laws, industries chosen for deregulation, labor training laws, and the degree of commitment to educational institutions (Hitt). When it comes to any company that deals with electronics it’s important to avoid violating one of the laws most importantly. This law would be the Anti-trust law. Because what comes with violating this law are issues such as lawsuits and the loss of customers both of which are never good for a company of any sort.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
