U.S. ECONOMIC GROWTH 2 U.S. Economic Growth between 1790 and 1860 Before the start of the Civil War, the United States had already attained sustained economic growth. The U.S. had filled out its geographical or territorial boundaries and was only second to Britain in the manufacturing. The U.S.’s territorial expansion had been equally matched by its rising economic growth. Before the Civil War took began, the barriers to the nation’s economic growth had been eliminated (Matson, 2006). The war would only later become an undesired and costly interruption. However, the economic success and expansion that took place after the in the period between 1790 and 1860 war was tremendous and is something that makes this period in American history to be a significant one. Scholars have examined the factors that played the biggest role in this tremendous economic expansion and industrialization. This essay will highlight a few of these factors.
