Predicting the Weather FRONTS Match the symbol for the fronts. ___D__ Cold fronts bring a decrease in temperature and possibly thunderstorms. ___C__ Warm fronts bring an increase in temperature and possibly rain. ___A__ Stationary fronts bring the same, stale weather. ___B__ Occluded fronts are when a cold front overtakes a warm front. Draw on the map (label with the number). Remember that fronts move in the direction the symbols are pointing. 1. A cold front moving south. 2. A warm front moving east. 3. An occluded front moving northeast. 4. A stationary front near the great lakes, running from north to south. AIR MASSES Define the following: 1. Continental – Relating to a continent 2. Maritime – Bordering the sea 3. Polar – Relating to the North or South Pols 4. Tropical – Hot and Humid Climate 5. Arctic – Near the North Pole 6. Continental Arctic (cA): Cold Air Mass 7. Continental polar (cP): Cold Air Mass
