BUSI 2360 Assignment #1 Union #1 ( ) Name of the union: Unifor Name of the president: Jerry Dias Who the union represents: Unifor established a whole different concept about how union should work, by representing the rights of both employed and unemployed people including workers in manufacturing, communications and transportation and other public sectors which run by the government. Two of the most major issues the union is dealing with and that it has identified on its website: 1. The declining of the union members in last couple decades across Canada, workers becomes less aware of their rights at work, at the same time the employers and government are taking advantages of the lack of union power to benefits themselves. 2. Trying to reorganize the union system by bringing workers from different sectors together, and let the union getting involved with their daily life and operation, in doing that to regain the power and right to negotiate with employer and government for a better working environment and bright future.
