The Purpose of Apologetics Introduction The basis of this discussion board is to introduce the word apologetics, its usefulness, how it can be used and with whom it can be used. This analysis of apologetics will focus on the following points: first, its definition, second, the biblical basis for apologetics and third, defining and describing the difference between internal and external apologetics. Definition When looking at the word apologetics, one would assume that it means to apologize but that is far from its meaning. Apologetics is defined as “the attempt to defend a particular belief or system of beliefs against objections” [1] “The word apologetics comes from the Greek word apologia , which can be translated as ‘defense’ or ‘vindication’.” [2] Biblical Basis The biblical basis of apologetics is to defend the Christian worldview as truth against non-believers and anything else that comes up against the word of God. First we must know and understand there is no reason to follow God’s word unless Christianity is true and can be proven to be true. We must be able to defend and communicate scripture in a Christian manner being sensitive and specific to our audience.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
