STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS 2 Similarities and differences between the two organizations Health Level Seven International (HL7) and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) are similar because both are not-for-profit organizations, and they set healthcare standards (Burt, 2006). These rules are supposed to be met by all operating healthcare institutions. The standards established by the two non-profit organizations are expected to ensure that the healthcare institutions provide quality services. However, the two agencies have their differences especially when it comes to the type of standards they formulate. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) provides certification to ancillary supporting institutions especially those that offer healthcare staffing (Burt, 2006).
