Terry 1 Brannin Terry English 12 B Research Paper April 10, 2017 Frankenstein Frankenstein was a novel created by Mary Shelley and was published in 1818 (Context & Background) . This story was part of the Gothic period which was during the mid-12 th to the 16 th centuries and the Romantic period which was during the 18 th to the 19 th centuries (Background to Frankenstein) . Frankenstein was a novel that had a bigger story that was being presented. This novel attacked main points about life without birth, society, and the role that is played in judging before knowing. This novel showed the mistakes evolved from humans trying to act as God. Mankind tried to make life without birth which effected how society took new ideas. Mary Shelley’s insight and inspiration came in 1816 when she, Percy Shelley and Lord Byron, who was a friend of theirs in Switzerland (Frankenstein published) , suggested that they should all write scary stories. She was nineteen years old when she began to write this novel. The story that came to her was an illusion of a creature created by man, which made life without birth (Background to Frankenstein) . Mary Shelley then began to write the first horror novel- Frankenstein (Frankenstein published) .

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
