Lying I believe is never ok, at any given instance. Through lying, we only end up a person or ourselves. It is only when we are honest that progress can be made. Whether it be to ourselves or others, lying is not beneficial whatsoever. Too much lying can sometimes make us believe our own lies, and a web of confusion follows. The person will ultimately dislike you, think lowly, or a boss may even fire you, seeing your untrustworthiness. A variety of things can happen really, and that’s what makes lying so dangerous,
