Just like after the donation they made helped them create donation programs with UNICEF, numerous n on/governmental organizations, private foundations and many more. Since this action is morally accepta ble for Merck, then similar charitable actions should be acceptable for others companies that produce pr oducts which would benefit impoverished people. As long as the products donated are both efficacious a nd safe for human use, it should be acceptable. Also it is important to know the company’s intention for i t to be morally acceptable. Company’s interest should solely be based on helping the needing (not for pr ofit). Merck’s wise donation of the dugs to cure the river blindness are morally acceptable but not morally required. They didn’t have to look out for those who were effected by such drastic and harmful disease. He made a great decision to help others, there business is to preserve and improve human life. Merck’s
