What purpose did myths serve to ancient people? - Ancient Greek people recited and orally passed down mythology to help explain the environment in which they lived and the nature of life on Earth. 2. How do creation myths differ from nature myths? – Creation myths are narratives of how the world began and how people first came to inhabit it. Nature myths are narratives that are based on natural phenomena. 3. What types of works make up the literary genre of folklore? - Fairy Tales, Myths, Legends, Fables, and Folktales 4. What are the characteristics of fables? - A fable is short narratives form that is best known for having non-human beings as main characters and ending with a moral. What makes the animals in fables different from human beings is mainly their physical form, though they may display stereotyped personality traits relating to their animal natures. 5. How are folktales and fairy tales related? - A Fairy tale is a type of Folktale, but a Folktale is not always a Fairy tale.
