Arsema Kahssai VanderLeest F Hour 16 March 2017 Phobias Phobia is an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something. Phobias can develop in your early childhood, teenage years, or early adulthood. Phobias don’t come out of nowhere. Your past has a huge effect on your phobias. However, it is not always clear why phobias occur. Symptoms of phobias maybe: sweating, trembling, hot flushes or chills, shortness of breath, a choking sensation, rapid heartbeat, pain or tightness in the chest, a sensation of butterflies in the stomach, and many more. Again, phobias are developed in certain periods of your life, but are linked with traumatic and stressful events.However, there are two types of phobias that people may not be aware of. A social phobia is having an overwhelming and disabling fear of scrutiny, embarrassment, or humiliation in social situations, which can lead to the avoidance of potentially fun events and meaningful activities.
