Continental Congress Nullifies intolerable acts Strengthen the colony’s militias Trade and economic sanctions about importing and exporting sanctions List grievances and give it to king Lexington and Concord King George III is pissed Lord North is working on a peaceful settlement o Declares mass. In open rebellion o Disallows new England with other countries King George Appoints General gage to put down rebel leaders Colonists don’t consider themselves rebels, and don’t feel like they are at war Massachusetss militia doesn’t disband like Britain told them to o Stockpiled weapons at concord o Gage is afraid of attack on troops, and sends 700 troops to take arms o Colonists know that brits will come, and devise a signaling system through lanterns o Paul revere and prescot and dawes ride to spread signal o April 19 1775 brits come to Lexington See militia of 70 men assembled Small number of brits go to Lexington, but rest of army goes on concord
