Confucianism teaches that people should live in harmony with the “Way of Heaven” – each individual must act with virtue and serve as a living example to others. They believe that they should be in harmony with the heavens and their ancestors. They don’t really believe in a God, but more of pleasing the ones that came before them. They think that humans have a duty to act as guardians of heaven’s creation. They want heaven to be safe and their ancestors to be safe too. They also believe that we should be self-improvement and learning from the ancestors and are encouraged to do so often. What are some of the basic tenets of early Daoism (Taoism)? I think that Taoism and the Confucius religion are similar in many ways, but there are minor details that are different. They believe that Taoism is more than just a “philosophy” or a “religion”.
