Spring 2008 Engl 009-314 The Hidden God Jarrett Anthony Mimetic Essay Final Draft Frail from mono and exhausted from attempting to train for Penn Relays, I was physically spent approaching the academic peak of my semester at Penn when my “bloody” roommate decided that it would be a “brilliant” idea to house a few foreign exchange students from the Birmingham College track team in England. The last thing I needed was to be hosting a couple of “bumbling knobs” that would obstruct my sleep and studies during my final academic days before the salvation of summer. My academic work violently piled up on me as I spent my days hidden away under the covers feeling like what can only be described as death. However, the unwanted company of the Redcoats provided me with a topic for my mimetic essay. Strangely, the British students’ greatest concern was that of parties and alcohol. They continuously questioned if there would be any parties within the next few nights
