Whalen 1 Nich Whalen Dr. Mary Paniccia Carden October 18, 2006 Marriage: Can it be bought? Love and marriage have been around forever; this brings up the question, have you ever been in love? High Horse has. In fact, he is. This normally wouldn’t be a problem, except his love’s father won’t let him marry her. So, High Horse is going through Hell. In today’s society, it is considered rude to marry before permission is granted from the parents of the bride. It is important for a young man to have the approval of a girl’s father before he can marry her, not only in the past, but also in the present. Marriage is a big step, not only for the people getting married, but also for the parents of the bride. To be successful in marriage, you must be responsible and demonstrate maturity, an ability to stand on your own. Yet, there is more to it than that, you must not only be able to make it on your own, but be able to support someone else. Parents are the best judges of that. When a parent’s child gets married, it shows that the child has grown up, and is now an adult. An adult because they can stand on their own
