Consider the following task: Orange Juice Problem Mixture A of orange juice contains 4 cups of OJ flavor and 2 cups of water. Mixture B of orange juice contains 5 cups of OJ flavor and 3 cups of water . Which mixture tastes more 'orangey' and why? a. What quantities are involved in this situation? Be as explicit as possible. b. Determine which mixture tastes more “orangey.” Take note of which approach this problem you naturally took (constant multiplier, constant ratio, or scaling). Why did you choose your approach opposed to the other approaches? c. How could you change mixture B so that the ‘orangey’ flavor is exactly the same as mixture A? Provide at least 3 mixture scenarios that would yield the same flavor as mixture A. Explain why these scenarios would yield the same flavor taste.

She adds 58 purple jellybeans to the jar and shakes them up so the yellow and purple jellybeans are mixed very well. She then takes out a scoop of 90 jellybeans, and 15 of them are purple. She returns all of the jellybeans into the jar. Based on this information, estimate the total number of jellybeans in the jar. a. What quantities are involved in this situation? Be as explicit as possible. b. Assuming the sample Rebecca took is a good representation of the total sample, are there quantities that are proportional to each other? Explain your thinking.
