What YOU Need To Know About Anesthesia Recovery Expect to feel drowsy and tired after surgery. You may have nausea after the use of anesthetics. Headaches and sore throat are common. Don’t drive a car or operate machinery for at least 24 hours after waking up. Don’t make any important decisions or sign any legal documents. Don’t take any unprescribed medications.
