How did Groupon misread their audience when creating this campaign? How could they have avoided this mistake? Well the stars in each of the spots started talking about a cause and then they veered off to describe how to save money by using the Groupon coupons. The campaign was intended to help the cause and with the matching donations that the consumers would make to the organization like the Greenpeace. In the article, it explains that the commercial was intended to get the people to donate to help the cause but it was not what was being done. The Groupon felt that because they had celebrities in their commercials that they would entice the others to give and help like they others were saying they did. To me they had offended people instead of them helping. That is how they misread their audience because they thought if they saw celebrities giving and donating that it would make other people want to do the same. They ran advertisements during the 2011 Super Bowl that received much criticism from the
