Jung: Analytical Psychology Level of psyche : Just like Freud, Jung’s theory of personality was based on the mind or psyche ( Feist, Feist, Roberts, 2013). The difference included that Jung believe that personality derived from individual experiences from past existence called collective unconscious. Jung believed in four levels of the psyche – Conscious, personal conscious, collective conscious, and archetypes. The included the persona, shadow, anima, animus, great mother, wise old man, hero, and self. Jung believed the self was the most significant model, it is why human innate the predisposition to move toward growth, perfection and completion. Dynamic of personality: Jung’s ideas of personality explains the causality says present events are the result of previous experience. He also argued that teleology like individual aspirations and goal for the future in addition to causality are what drive present events (Feist, Feist, Roberts, 2013). Jung believe to achieve self- realization people must both inside influences regression and outside influences progression. Both are essential to achieving individual growth and self-realization Melanie Klein: Object Relation Theory Klein emphasized on the significance of the first 4 to 6 months after birth. She claimed that the infant’s motivations (hunger, sex, and so forth) are directed to an object—a breast, a penis, a vagina, and so on (Feist, Feist, Roberts,2013). According to Klein, the child’s connection to the mother’s breast is vital and functions as a model for later associations to whole objects. Klein’s concepts lean towards the focus of psychoanalytic theory from naturally built stages of development for the formation of interpersonal relationships and fantasy. Object Relation Theory: of instincts, Klein differs by three principles - Consistent patterns of interpersonal relationship, power and control of the mother, and human contact and relatedness. She believed thast we begin life with a clean slate and inherited predispositions to reduce anxiety. Psychic Defense Mechanism includes introjection, projection, splitting and projective identification (Feist, Feist, Roberts,2013). Personality Individuals inside every existing species demonstrate distinctions or adaptability (Feist, Feist & Robert, 2013). Constant individual differences in behaviors are known as personality.
